More paint. More detail.

Denser brush contact, richer wet pigment pickup, and pressure-driven wet-paint flow. Painting uses a 2D view with fixed edge highlights and shadows. Wet blending and paint movement stay the same.

This can sharply reduce performance.

Large brushes and canvases can become much slower. Your device may get warm and use more battery. Start with a small canvas and switch back anytime.

Enabled for this session only. Your canvas resolution stays the same. This is an artistic paint simulation.

More canvases · Full

Classic study (1200 × 850) is free. Full unlocks other sizes and shapes.

Fine cotton gives subtle texture. Coarse linen catches more broken paint. Fabric is part of your editable painting.

Up to 2048 pixels per side, within the 2.1 megapixel limit. Existing larger projects keep their original size. Creating a canvas keeps your previous painting in My projects and starts a new undo history.

WELCOME TO YOUR ATELIER

A little guide to oil & color.

Follow your hand

Paint with a mouse, finger, or pen. Pen pressure changes your mark. Each stroke starts with fresh paint. Wheel to zoom · Space-drag to move · Pinch with two fingers the canvas. Tap Fit to see the whole painting again.

Let colors meet

Pick from canvas samples your test patches and mixed colors without lighting or shadows. Press E, then tap a color; Alt-click samples directly. Wet paint is picked up into your brush. Wet ridges soften and fuse under a moving brush or loaded knife; more oil and pressure help them yield. A brush with oil but no paint reworks the existing color. Increase color pickup for softer blends. Set a layer dry to paint cleanly over it.

Find your texture

Smooth oil starts with a soft filbert and a thin paint load. Impasto starts with a thicker paint deposit. Textured oil lays a shallow film with fine pigment texture. Fresh paint softens wet ridges underneath. Smudge drags visible color and texture in the direction of your stroke, including dry marks, without adding fresh pigment. These shortcuts set the controls below; adjust them freely. Lowering impasto changes new strokes, not existing ridges. Dry brush catches the canvas weave. Impasto changes the amount and movement of paint. The 2D view adds a fixed raised-edge effect. Try 50–70%, a generous paint load, and little or no oil; 0% keeps the classic texture. A loaded palette knife lays down broad paint strokes. Tool action makes the difference: Paint adds color; Smudge moves visible color and texture with your tool; Scrape lifts wet paint with the knife and leaves residue. Dry layers stay fixed during oil painting; Smudge can edit their visible surface. Linseed oil adds flow and transparency. At 75% or more, loaded wet paint makes a few gentle downward runs when you lift the brush. They settle in seconds; starting another stroke or setting the layer dry stops them.

Make it yours

Mix two colors on the palette, save favorite mixtures, and export a PNG at your chosen canvas size. My projects keeps editable paintings on this device. Download a compressed .laprima backup and import it later, with palette, paint state, mixing board, recipes, reference, and existing stroke history. No project is uploaded. Browser storage can be cleared or evicted; keep external backups.

An artist-friendly approximation of oil paint using spectral pigment mixing, wetness, individual bristle texture, and surface height. Spectra are reconstructed from RGB, not measured artist pigments. It is not a laboratory fluid simulation. Digital drying is accelerated; clearing application data removes recovery and session timelapse. Back up important paintings as .laprima projects and save video clips. Paint body changes deposited thickness and the resistance of wet paint to reworking. Bristle stiffness changes pressure splay. Compatible canvases use WebGPU painting, with a CPU fallback.
